BLACK HEALTH NEW MEXICO
Empowering Black Communities Through Health Advocacy and Leadership

About BLACK HEALTH NEW MEXICO
BLACK HEALTH NEW MEXICO is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering Black communities across the state through comprehensive advocacy, evidence-based policy initiatives, and transformative programs. We are committed to addressing health disparities and improving outcomes for Black families, with a particular focus on maternal health equity. Our mission is rooted in the belief that every Black community member deserves access to quality healthcare, culturally competent services, and a voice in the decisions that affect their health and wellbeing.
We work to promote Black leadership in public health by developing community leaders, advocating for systemic change, and implementing programs that address the root causes of health inequities. Through our collaborative approach, we partner with community members, healthcare providers, policymakers, and other stakeholders to create sustainable solutions that strengthen Black health and advance health justice across New Mexico.
Our Programs and Services
Maternal Health Advocacy and Programs
We develop and implement comprehensive programs focused on improving maternal health outcomes for Black women and families. Our initiatives address prenatal care access, maternal mortality prevention, and postpartum support through community-centered approaches and evidence-based interventions.

Policy Advocacy and Systems Change
We engage in strategic advocacy to influence health policy at local, state, and national levels. Our team works to advance policies that address health disparities, improve access to care, and ensure that Black communities have a voice in public health decision-making and resource allocation.

Black Leadership Development in Public Health
We cultivate and support Black leaders in the public health field through training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities. Our programs empower community members to take leadership roles in health advocacy, policy development, and organizational leadership to create lasting change.
